Who are we

A Subsidiary of the MTN Group, represented in 22 countries and telecoms leader in Africa, MTN Cameroon is a provider of communication and payment solutions, present in Cameroon since February 2000. MTN is one of the five most significant companies in Cameroon in terms of turnover. 

Access to the new digital world

MTN Cameroon has developed the most robust and extended telecoms network in Cameroon and the Central African sub-region. The Cameroon subsidiary of the South African giant (MTN) has rapidly imposed itself as leader of the telecoms sector with roughly 10 million subscribers. This leadership derives from the hardware and software infrastructures that meet international standards with the 4G LTE, 3G and Wimax technologies, including GSM.

This constantly evolutive network by end of May 2017, comprised about 3600 base stations, 05 state-of-the-art technical centres with 3 Tiers-3 datacentres. MTN Cameroon through its extended network enables to cover roughly 93% of the population in Cameroon and guarantees redundant presence and service in all the agglomerations of more than 50 000 inhabitants. A reason why MTN Cameroon is considered as the major stakeholder of the on-going digital transformation of the country.

Digital transformation catalyst 

MTN supports the digital transformation of Cameroon, notably by providing the country’s digital economy with a simple, affordable and secure means of payment:  Mobile Money. Just an MTN Mobile Money account created in a mobile phone is needed to easily access tranquillity in absolute security.   And to further ease the daily lives of users, the Mobile Money platform goes even farther notably with an ever-growing ecosystem. Taxes, TV, electricity, hotels, supermarkets, restaurants, e-commerce, money transfers are some of the areas that have embraced this modernity.

All MTN Mobile Money transactions are carried out in strict compliance with the regulations in force in the CEMAC zone.

Major Investor 

MTN portrays itself as one of the 5 most significant tax payers to the State. Since the year 2000, MTN has paid to the State about 1000 billion francs CFA in terms of taxes, duties and other royalties.

MTN has also invested over 2,200 billion francs CFA in the national economy since its incorporation in February 2000. The investments achieved by MTN Cameroon have contributed to develop over a thousand SME partners and vendors of the company. Amongst the essential investments of MTN, conspicuously features the connection of Cameroon to the WACS sub-marine cable, strategic tool that enables countries nowadays to access cost-effective and abundant high speed internet.

Employer of choice

Between 2000 and 2016, MTN Cameroon has created averagely 74 new direct jobs each year, being in total a thousand jobs with 40% taken up by women. Moreover, the dynamism of its activity daily provides revenue to about 200,000 families.

MTN, since its incorporation in Cameroon, has chosen to entirely entrust confidence with local competence and developed a bold policy to nationalize its top management positions.  Only 7 of its employees are expatriates.  A good number of its Cameroonian employees have become world-class managers  and currently occupy  top positions in several other operations of the MTN Group.

In recognition  of its good human resource management,  MTN Cameroon was recently accredited as ‘’Employer of  choice’’, by the prestigious British institution, “Investors In People (IiP)”.

The satisfaction of its clients is at the center of MTN Cameroon’s activity. On top of its extensive distribution chain that covers the national territory, MTN has 19 Service Centers and 2 Contact Centres that are available around the clock, to provide its clients with personalized quality services at all times. Beside these traditional channels, our customer support team is available on social networks, through MTN Cameroon Twitter and Facebook official accounts.

MTN Cameroon’s customer services was certified ISO 9001:2008 by SGS in 2014 in recognition of its continuous efforts to provide the best quality of service possible to its customers.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In 2005, MTN created the ever first corporate foundation in Cameroon wherein it devotes each year, 1% of its profit after tax. This foundation contributes to the welfare of communities by working in the areas of health, community development and education.

Thanks to its actions, 15,000 students and teachers have access to the computer; over 100,000 people are sensitized against malaria and thousands of children have access to education thanks to the over fifty classrooms constructed.
